Naryanan was driving on the scenic highway. On this bright sunny day, highway was playing a game of hide and seek with the ocean. It would move away at some stretch, then it would running parallel to the deep blue sea.

Ever since he joined his new job, this was Narayanan’s first break from work.

What happened to your promised work life balance? Other than a good pay package, I don’t see any improvement in quality of life. Company is buying your time,”

his wife would often remind him.

This long weekend, I am not going to work. I shall drop out on Monday. Tuesday is a holiday. I shall join work on Wednesday”,

Narayanan felt good as he moved away from crowded city life, congested neighborhood and domineering boss.

Work is important, so is family; should I relocate close to office? What about my parents?”

His cell phone rang,

Office!”

he whispered to his wife.

Naryanan where are you?”

Sir, I am off, for a few days.”

“without informing! what about timelines?”

Naryanan kept quiet.

Are you there, Narayanan? What about timelines?”

Sir, I need to decide, should I come back or not?” Naryanan disconnected.
