Like a zombie, he completed his formalities and tried to fit into his new life in the prison. He still could not believe he will have to spend ten years in this place.

He would look at the sandy brown hill separated by a barbed wire fence from his prison window. He would wonder what lied beyond the hill?

Anyone tried crossing that fence?” he would ask in hushed tone.

An escapee will be a sitting duck in open desert.” answered a veteran, “it looks easy because they want us to do something foolish, so that system doesn’t have to maintain us any longer.”

    1. True. Escape is not an option ever. In the US they shoot down an escaped prisoner if they can catch him. But many prisoners get impatient and want to get out. Thank you for reading.
