“Thud Thud Thud,” “Thud Thud Thud” “Thud Thud Thud”. Mrs P heard the rasping sound of knock on her front door.
“It cannot be,” she closed her eyes and wanted to go back to sleep, “I am not leaving warm bed now.” Rythmic beatings were relentless – three knocks at five second break again three knocks. As if a professional drummer was playing his drum with her door.
“Is this some kind of a joke?” irritated she looked at the bedside clock. It was 1 AM.
“Coming, in a minute,” Mrs P answered, as she changed her nightdress, tidied her hair, all the while her mind working overtime.
“Knocking at this hour cannot be good news;Has someone died?Good it is not a phone call; out of station relatives will call, not knock!” she tried to regain her composure, “something happened to Mr. P? He is not expected back before tomorrow.”
“Such an idiot, creating public inconvenience!” angry muffled voices were heard as she opened the lock but not the latch and aggressively asked, “what is the problem, guard? You should phone, why are you knocking?”
“Madam, tried calling, but your landline not working,” answered guard, “blue Santro with Delhi registration is wrongly parked.”
“Not my car.”
“Madam, Mr. Sharma registered this car as your guest this evening.”
“Men! can’t they do anything right?” an exasperated Mrs P cursed the man on her bed, “asked him to take a cab; he brought his car and parked it wrong.”

Hahaha… poor Mrs P. I can so relate with the thoughts flashing in her mind as she gets up to answer the door.
Loved this light take on the prompt.

Thank you. Midnight calls are terrifying. Generally they bring bad news. Our Mrs P was having a little good time on the sly. Thank you for reading and commenting.

I feel pity for the Mr. of Mrs. P or is it that he is also busy with someone else? Degrading values of society subtly crafted.

It is possible he may also be involved. But that is another story. Thank you for reading.
