My friend Sudhir does not believe in anything that cannot be explained logically. I was surprised, when one day Sudhir asked me,
“do you really think something exists beyond our sensory perception?”
Sudhir narrated the following incident in response to my shocked and surprised expression.
—–X—–
Our new home has three rooms in the ground floor and one on the first floor. The other day, my daughter Swati was doing her homework in the groundfloor bedroom under watchful eyes of my wife Reena, who was in the kitchen.
For a little while, Reena had turned her back to Swati, when she could not see her. There was no answer to Reena’s call. Reena checked under the bed, behind sofa, in the washroom everywhere, all in vain. Main door was still bolted from inside, so Swati was inside somewhere.
“I am here Mama,” nearly ten min after frantic search, Reena located Swati in the first floor bed room.
“How did she reach there, unnoticed?” a bewildered Reena asked Sudhir.
Second mysterious movement happened during the weekend. This time, both Reena and me interogated her.
“She called me upstairs.”
“Who is she?” we asked suppressing our shock, surprise and anger, “how did you move unnoticed?”
“My friend,” said Swati innocently, “she showed me a hidden stair.”
—–X—–
“Neither Reena, nor me believe in paranormal. Hidden stair may explain Swati’s movement, but how did she know of the stair and who is her invisible friend?” asked Sudhir, “am I going mad?”

Swati had found a friend who is invisible. Some say it is a paranormal event. But Sudhir does not believe. Neither do you it seems. Thank you for reading.

Ah, this is like those spooky RGV movies where invisible people are the protagonists of the story. Well-written, Abhijit.
