He took his position at the end of the serpentine queue. The queue did not surprise him. All his life he had stood in one line or the other, for everything.
“Identification, please!” the officer asked.
“What id?” first time in his life, he had questioned an officer, with a sense of surprise, “I have none.”
“No id, no entry ,” the officer barked, “next?”
“You brought him back!” he woke amid a chorus of chatter and muffled cry, “thank you, doctor!”
“Never got through in first try,” he mused with eyes shut, “next time I shall be better prepared.”

The need for identification has increased, lately. Thankfully, Aadhar has been put on a slow lane, otherwise, it was sought at so many places.

True I’d is important. But here our person was negotiating with gatekeeper of heaven. He was not sure what I’d he should produce. Thank you for reading.

Dear Abhijit,
I read your comment to learn this was the line to the gates of heaven. I went back and read it and it made more sense. I’m sure he’ll be better prepared when the big day arrives. Nicely done.
Shalom,
Rochelle

We can save on a whole lot of sermonizing if all it takes to get into Heaven is a valid ID.

I send my caregiver to places for me and always make sure she carries almost every ID card I own. People are crazy and you never know what they’ll want to see. I recently read there’ s a new card coming now. It never seems to end. A good story, Abhijit, and well written. —- Suzanne

I would have thought he’d want to hold off a bit longer on carrying id for that particular place.
